We exchanged business cards, I'm not currently looking to leave my job, but I would want to entertain that possibility in the future and work for this person's company. Should I use my work email? And if so, what do I write? Is a card better? Should I wait until the holidays and send a greeting card instead?
I want to follow up w/person I met at conference just to keep in touch; should I use my work or personal email
Use your business account and just say that you enjoyed getting to talk to them at the conference and try to think of a question so that they answer back. Ask something about business--something specific to your industry or his opinion about something. And sure, send a greeting card at the holidays to keep this person aware of you. There isn't a conflict of interest b/c you aren't soliciting a job.
Reply:you use your personal email - first because you are conducting personal business and it should be done on your time not the company. start out slow and show interest -- might even try asking a few gereral questions about his company and workplace.
Reply:Personally i would use work email. You met in the work environment, so carry on your relationship as an associates relationship. If you send something from a personal email they might feel that it's somewhat inappropriate.
Use works email initially, if a friendship develops outside of the work environment, then i would probably change to personal email.
