My cred/card # stolen, charging goods. I have their Yahoo email address. How to discover his/her identity?

Someone has stolen my credit card number and has charged (and is still attempting to charge) goods on the Internet. I've canceled my credit card, but would like to discover/prosecute this person. I have this person's Yahoo email address used when he/she placed the Internet orders. Does someone know of a way to find the identity of this person?

Give the info to your credit card company, they'll know what to do.

If you don't get satisfaction find the local office of the FBI in the phone book.
Reply:Get the police.
Reply:Since anyone can register for a yahoo account with no verification, finding out who that person is will be difficult. If the person did not use a proxy to register the account, then they might be able to track the IP address of the person. This is unlikely if they know what they are doing. Yahoo will not easily give up that information either. A judge would have to sign a warrant for the information and even then tracking down who it is would be difficult. The Yahoo address is a dead end.

The delivery address for the ordered products might be a better lead but stores won't easily hand this information over to you. Again, the police would need to get involved. A police department may not view these crimes as top priority as the chance of discovering who it is may be difficult. If it happens across state/international lines, the Feds can get involved. But, again, priorities may be different.
Reply:You have to report to the police. Yahoo want give out any info without court order.
